National Collection of
Dahlia

The National Collection of Dahlia is held at Greenyard Flowers UK Ltd, Varfell Farm, Penzance, Cornwall.
Contact details are available through the Plant Heritage National Website .

The National Dahlia Collection was first established in 1983 in Oxfordshire before moving to The Duchy College near Rosewarne. Since 1998 it has been in the custodianship of Greenyard Flowers UK Ltd (Formerly known as Winchester Growers) situated just outside Penzance.
During its time in Penzance the Collection has been fully re-catalogued. The mail order operation and website were introduced and the showcasing of the Collection at the RHS Shows commenced.
In 2009 the team took the dahlias to the Chelsea Flower Show. This was the first time dahlias had been there for over 30 years, achieving not only a Gold Medal but also the coveted Presidentís Award for the best display in the Grand Pavilion. That same year the team also achieved the Tudor Rose award at Hampton Court Flower Show for the best display garden.
There are over 1,700 varieties of dahlia to see growing in our 1.5 acre display garden (limited disabled access). All are available through mail order. The garden is open but unattended during late July, August and September however the Dahlia team will be present to answer questions and take orders on the open day in August (see website for details).
